About Underground Utility Installation
Our Construction Process
We take great pride in the safe, efficient installation of underground utilities. Every project begins with a critical first step: coordinating with local facility owners through the state-operated Call Before You Dig 811 program.
As part of this process, utility providers — including City Public Works, internet and phone companies, and sewer departments — visit the site to identify and clearly mark existing underground infrastructure using paint and flags. This step is not only legally required, but also essential for ensuring the safety and success of the installation.
Once all utilities have been properly located and marked, our team begins the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) process. HDD allows us to install conduit, fiber, or cable underground with minimal surface disruption. Compared to traditional trenching or open excavation, this method significantly reduces impact to surrounding areas — keeping neighborhoods cleaner, quieter, and fully functional throughout the installation.
Post Construction and Restoration
Following the installation of underground utilities, some restoration work is often necessary a normal part of any construction process. Depending on the scope of the project, this may include grass and sod replacement, asphalt street repairs, concrete sidewalk panels, and in some cases, driveway or fence restoration.
At Caliber Underground, we want to be clear:
Homeowners and property owners are never responsible for restoration costs resulting from our work. Any damage directly caused by our utility installation will be addressed by our in-house restoration team or coordinated through our customer — at no cost to you.
Our goal is to leave every neighborhood looking just as good — if not better — than it did before. If you have any concerns or notice any issues after our crews have completed work, we encourage you to reach out to our Restoration Department. Our team is committed to responding quickly and professionally to ensure every issue is resolved with care.
